動詞の後に動名詞が来るか不定詞が来るかそれとも両方OKか。いくつかの動詞では動名詞が来た時と不定詞が来た時で意味が異なる。

ex. I tried to answer the question, but coundn’t.

ex. He remembers to send an e-mail to the client.
– remember -ing
remembering a memory a person did
ex. I remember going to Italy this February.

ex. I forgot to lock the door this morning.

forgeting a memory a person did
ex. I forget seeing him last month on the street.
– stop to
stoping one action to do another
ex. We stopped to see the map.
– stop -ing
ceasing to do which was previously a habit
